When I was a kid, I heard about a sort-of conspiracy theory surrounding windmills. The story goes that if you lived near one of those giant wind farms in Texas or New Mexico or wherever, you could not get a single night's sleep. The low, constant drone of the blades would disturb your sleep so much that you could be mentally harmed, or go insane. While many studies dispute this theory, the notion of something fantastical quietly disturbing the mundane has always stirred my imagination. It became my goal to make art that held and intensified that feeling. I’ve always found it too fleeting.
